Going Forward

My going phrase from my power hour today:

“Do it smiling. One Step at a Time.”

I thought I needed it for one set of thoughts, but my husband introduced a whole new line of thinking this morning. This new set of questions requires analysis, soul searching and decision making. It could be overwhelming, if I let it be. But then I received the message I needed before I knew I would be considering these new thoughts. What a powerful message to help me along this unexpected path. I don’t have to figure it all out at once. I get to take it one step at a time and I get to smile while I do it. That is a strong place to go from.

Related to this, I found a poem I wrote a few weeks ago, while Daniel was in the hospital getting his gall bladder removed.. I think it is fitting to share it here.

There Is Always A Forward

by Kathryn Blomberg

I struggle and wander

on my spirit’s mortal quest

The path feels hard;

my weakness is truly my test.

But I know where I came from:

A daughter of God,

Sent from above,

to hold onto the rod.

I do what I can in asking,

for what seems to be best.

He does His best at granting,

with His knowledge of the rest.

I seek knowledge, understanding;

I try to stand.

I turn my trust completely

to God’s all-knowing hand.

God’s gifts are pervasive,

abundant as rain.

He is leading, inspiring,

in the midst of my pain.

There is always a forward

and always an up;

If I will believe

and hold out my cup.

When my courage is weak,

I lean on his strength.

My lifeline is prayer

for the journey’s length.

Pressing forward, continuing,

I stumble, get up.

I am determined, I seek him.

He fills my cup.

The blessings he gives me

   are my unique set.

Based on my faith and willingness,

my true needs are met.

It’s His knowledge, His understanding

on which I stand.

I trust my life completely

in God’s all-knowing hand.

God’s gifts are pervasive,

abundant as rain.

He is leading, inspiring,

bringing joy from the pain.

There is always a forward

and always an up.

I do believe Him;

I hold out my cup.

 So go forward and up today. Do it smiling. One step at a time.

Always a forward and always an up2
